Blue Monday People
Bravo Bxl, Brussels
28.06.2014   14.08.2014
Blue Monday People is a progressive soul band from Brussels. The four soul men met at the academy of music where they were studying jazz. Singer Fran├žois Vaiana founded the group because he wanted to rediscover the soul standards from the 60s and 70s, giving these neglected songs a new feel. Maybe you are thinking: Blue Monday People, I've heard that phrase somewhere. That can very well be, because the band was named after a song of Curtis Mayfield. This soul legend is, among artists like Marvin Gaye and Nina Simone, a big inspiration for the band. Listen to 'Girl of Peace' from their first EP Love.

The video session was recorded in a bar in Brussels called Bravo. On the ground floor, you can order breakfast, lunch or tapas, or just enjoy your beer or nip a cocktail. When you descend the stairs, you're entering a fairly new jazz club where local musicians mount the stage. You can also participate in one of the jam sessions or get groovin' on a funky dance night.
