Blue Monday People is a progressive soul band from Brussels. The four soul men met at the academy of music where they were studying jazz. Singer François Vaiana founded the group because he wanted to rediscover the soul standards from the 60s and 70s, giving these neglected songs a new feel. Maybe you are thinking: Blue Monday People, I've heard that phrase somewhere. That can very well be, because the band was named after a song of Curtis Mayfield. This soul legend is, among artists like Marvin Gaye and Nina Simone, a big inspiration for the band. Listen to 'Girl of Peace' from their first EP Love.
The video session was recorded in a bar in Brussels called Bravo. On the ground floor, you can order breakfast, lunch or tapas, or just enjoy your beer or nip a cocktail. When you descend the stairs, you're entering a fairly new jazz club where local musicians mount the stage. You can also participate in one of the jam sessions or get groovin' on a funky dance night.
