Members of Dutch indie folk band La Corneille have known each other since primary school. Since 2012 they got together and started making music in a serious way. Guy Corneille, Hans Vermunt and Daan Crone make up the band and their sound reflects on similar modern day artists like Antony and the Johnsons, Laura Marling and Half Moon Run, though they have very much found an own, distinct sound. Alternating between theatrical grandeur, with grand songs and crescendo's and sweet songs of melancholy, the band rocks stages throughout the Netherlands and further across its borders in Germany and Norway. They won band contest Clash of the Titans, played at Le Guess Who and supported for Angus Stone.
The song they play is "Rose", and they play it at Café Willem Slok. The café serves as a podium for local acts and participate in Cultural Sundays where the entire city is transformed into a place of great local culture. The café is a traditional Dutch brown café and has taken up its residence at de Korte Koestraat for over 50 years.
